A thousand things can inspire me at any given moment in the studio or elsewhere: a song title, the weather, politics, war, a color, the beat & cadence of the music when I'm working which will guide my hands, - I tend to work in series: abstract, landscapes, botanicals, and currently, more primitively, more "brut." I can go into a piece with a preconceived notion or plan which may or may not change as my mood does. Yet, I continue to use paint the same way, regardless of medium: a material process of doing, a wiping away, a blurring, a drawing over, an addition, a subtraction, another addition...Always standing, moving or even dancing in front of my surface, I paint aerobically, attempting to present a circle, a square, a line, a face, a flower or house, with physicality and force...

"Painting is concerned with the ten things you can see; these are: darkness and brightness, substance and color, form and place, remoteness and nearness, movement and rest..." Leonardo DV 1452-1519
